Man United trio doubtful for FC Barcelona second leg

Man United are sweating on the fitness of a first-team trio, ahead of the Europa League second leg against FC Barcelona this Thursday.

Manchester United Football Club have a massive week on the horizon. First up, FC Barcelona visit Old Trafford in the Europa League second leg.

The tie is finely balanced at 2-2, after a cracking game over in Catalonia last week. Erik ten Hag’s men are probably feeling a little hard done by, as they could easily be leading this tie.

Play that way again here and United will have a great chance at progressing, though we can also expect Barca to play better here, too.

Anyway, ahead of the game, the official club website have delivered some early team news. They state that a first-team trio remain doubtful for the game that takes place this coming Thursday.

Antony, Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire’s availability is still unclear, with the threesome all nursing different issues.

At this point, Martial is becoming a proper sick note. He’s rarely fit and Ten Hag can no longer rely on the Frenchman. It’s why the Old Trafford club are seemingly in the market for a new starting striker.

Antony‘s injury is a weird one. He’s been missing for a few games now, though you get the feeling he isn’t too far away from making his comeback. At the very least, I’d love to see him back on the bench for the cup final this weekend. He deserves that chance.

Maguire’s situation is also intriguing. He’s barely played when fit, though he likely would have started over the weekend against Leicester if he was available. You get the feeling he’ll possibly be sold this summer after being pushed out of the line-up. For now, though, let’s hope his problem isn’t too serious…
