Man United trio named in BBC TOTW after Fulham win

A key trio of Manchester United men have been named in the latest BBC TOTW.

Manchester United still sit atop the Premier League table at the halfway point. Credit where it’s due to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and those players, because even the most optimistic of Reds fans wouldn’t have predicted that at the season’s start.

What’s encouraging is that this is a side moving in the right direction. Fronted by Bruno Fernandes, this is a squad jam-packed with quality and confidence.

On Wednesday, United had to grind it out against Fulham but eventually came away with a 2-1 victory. It’s these sort of hard-fought results that can really spur you on to bigger and better things.

For their performances, a star United trio has been named in the BBC Team of the Week and rightly so too…

They say defences win titles, so let’s start from the back. Luke Shaw is the first deserving Red Devil named in Garth Crooks’ latest best XI of the week. The left-back is showing his best form in United colours since his big-money move eight years ago now – and it’s an absolute pleasure watching him play. Against Fulham, he was defensively diligent and tried to get forward wherever possible.

We need to talk about Paul Pogba… He’s another showing probably his best form since moving to Old Trafford, despite three years of sub-par displays, he’s single-handedly dragged us through a couple of tough away fixtures.

Finally, Edinson Cavani is included. The Uruguayan offers us a different dimension in attack and I’m all for it. It’s his work ethic, insane movement and clinical finishing that always has United in with a chance of scoring.

Well played lads!
