Man United trio named in BBC’s Team of the Week after drubbing Chelsea 4-0

Manchester United Football Club put in a spectacular performance yesterday at home to Chelsea, eventually running out 4-0 winners.

The game itself was a closely-contested affair until the last 30 minutes when United’s superior fitness levels came to the fore. Goals from Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James killed the game for the 20-time Premier League champions, and what a special way to start.

For their performances, a trio of United players have been named in Garth Crooks’ BBC Team of the Week; and rightly so, too.

Let’s start with Harry Maguire. The centre-back was everything we’ve wanted and more. Our #5 got his head on absolutely everything, won tackles, looked strong while also playing out from the back. He’s already proving his worth and he’ll only get better…

Paul Pogba was just sublime and he deserves extra credit as he hasn’t let his mind become unsettled amid uncertainty about his future. He started slowly, but those two passes to create two late goals were just unbelievable. He’s by far and away, our best midfielder and we’re going to need him.

Then you have Rashford. Fans have been (rightly) calling for the youngster to step up and really start scoring with regularity. Well, he’s certainly started on the front foot, scoring two in the Premier League opener as he looks to fill those shoes left by Romelu Lukaku…

Congratulations, boys!
