A key Man United trio have been named in the latest WhoScored TOTW after the Red Devils beat West Ham 1-0.
All the positivity in the aftermath of Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over West Ham United has been brilliant to see.
The Old Trafford club are reaping rewards for their hard work. The lads are playing for the badge on their chest, for a manager who is working them firmly but fairly.
Erik ten Hag’s squad have rediscovered their backbone and fight. That was on full display yesterday as West Ham United were knocking firmly at the door.
Earlier today, we covered the BBC Team of the Week, with two United players named in that by Garth Crooks.
Now, we have the WhoScored Team of the Week. They look at it with a different approach, naming three players in their statistical style.
A trio of United players have been involved this time. All defenders. Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez scored high enough to make it 75% of the back four this week.
Check out the WhoScored TOTW with a trio of Man United players in following the West Ham win:
Dalot was the highest-scoring United player with an impressive 8.31. Normally associated with his attacking qualities, it was his defensive astuteness that helped United preserve their clean sheet in this one. He won so many vital back-post headers, due to his positional perfection and aerial prowess.
Next up we have Maguire, given a 7.75. After a sluggish start, most likely due to a lack of minutes under the belt, the Englishman improved as the game went on. He too was a monster in the air. He also helped organise the rest of the back line.
Finally, there’s Martinez. His 7.64 actually comes in lower than Maguire which I do not agree with, but it’s fine margins. The Argentine was sensational yet again, playing with passion, defending with aggression and ensuring United came out victorious.
Congratulations, lads!
