A Man United trio have not travelled with the squad for the game vs Real Sociedad…
Manchester United Football Club take on Real Sociedad in a huge Europa League fixture tomorrow, with the Red Devils looking to leapfrog their opponent to the top of the group.
The 20-time Premier League champions need to win by two-clear goals away in Spain, which obviously isn’t going to be easy.
Ahead of the match, we’re starting to learn about the all-important team news for the encounter. Sadly, a trio haven’t travelled with the squad, all of whom are dealing with issues.
It’s The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell with the scoop. He says neither Antony, nor Anthony Martial have travelled as they’re working on individual fitness plans following injury. There’s also Jadon Sancho, who stays at home through illness.
Check out Laurie Whitwell’s tweet explaining their absences here:
What’s concerning here is that these are all attackers. United are light in that area of the field at the best of times. To lose three players who may well have started this match makes the task even tougher.
Antony’s issue isn’t thought to be too long-term. Perhaps the club are trying to ensure the Brazil international is fit for the Aston Villa game this weekend?
Martial’s absence makes sense. The Frenchman has endured a stop-start campaign due to injuries. It makes sense to not rush him back here.
Sancho is a new problem. He’s ill. Perhaps there’s a bug going around the camp right now, as Victor Lindelof has also been dealing with some sickness of late.
Hopefully, these problems aren’t lengthy ones. It goes without saying, we need these guys back sooner rather than later.
