Man United trio out injured with ‘small’ problems as they miss Rangers game

Man United played their second pre-season game yesterday, against Rangers at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield stadium. However, there were some notable absentees.

Manchester United’s 2023/24 season was a forgetful one. Largely due to injuries decimating the squad, leaving Erik ten Hag almost helpless at times.

The Old Trafford club lost players in key positions for prolonged periods. It’s a miracle that the campaign ended with an FA Cup trophy win.

You’d like to think the worst is now behind United in that regard, through the club have confirmed a few injury worries have appeared.

United have been dealt by a triple injury blow, with three players missing due to ‘small niggles’. All of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Victor Lindelof did not partake in the game against Rangers today as a result.

It’s best to be cautious at this stage as the last thing you want to do is cause serious long-term problems by risking a player before his body is ready to get back out there.

For Antony and Victor Lindelof, this pre-season is about forcing their way into the manager’s plans on a regular basis. Both may only be viewed as bit-part players right now with others now ahead of these guys in the pecking order in their respective positions.

As for Rashy, it’s about proving to everyone that he’s still an elite level footballer. His 2023/24 campaign was pretty disastrous, both on and off the field. He had attitude issues that came into question, while his on-pitch displays were below par. I’d like to think his England snub would have re-lit that fire in his belly.

It doesn’t sound like these minor issues will keep the lads away from the squad for the US leg of the tour which starts next week.

Get well soon, fellas!
