Ralf Rangnick will have to cope without three key Man United stars for their game against Burnley.
Manchester United’s slump in performances is clear for all to see. For far too long, the displays, to a man, have not been good enough. The manager can only do so much.
Next up for the Red Devils is a great chance to put it right in front of the Old Trafford Faithful against Burnley. Be aware, though, that if United put in another half-hearted performance, Sean Dyche’s side are more than capable of causing the upset.
Ahead of that game, United have been dealt a blow. The club website confirmed that a key trio will be missing the fixture tomorrow, through injury, Covid-19 protocols and suspension.
First, we have Paul Pogba, who remains sidelined with an injury he picked up with France back in October. I’d like to think he’s not too far away on the injury front – though don’t forget he’s free to talk to overseas clubs in just a few days, about possibly leaving for nothing next summer.
Next, we have Victor Lindelof, who is self-isolating after contracting Coronavirus. It’s unclear when the Ice Man will be back available for selection but I’d hazard a guess we won’t see him for the next couple of fixtures.
Then comes Bruno Fernandes, who picked up a daft booking while berating the referee against Newcastle United. This was our Portuguese Magnifico’s fifth caution of the year, which leads to a one-game suspension.
In terms of replacements, United have made do without Pogba for a couple of months so that should be straightforward. Lindelof will be kept out of the side by Harry Maguire, while this feels like a good opportunity to get Donny van de Beek some minutes with Bruno out.
