Man United are looking to beat Newcastle United to the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo.
Manchester United will lose Raphael Varane this summer, while other centre-halves could also depart Old Trafford over the coming months.
As a result, the Red Devils should make this a priority position to strengthen in when the transfer window opens. It certainly feels like the 20-time Premier League champions are doing exactly that, with several centre-backs being linked with a switch to Salford Quays.
Among them is Tosin Adarabioyo. We covered another claim on that front just yesterday, with Sky Sports News confirming the Reds’ interest in the Fulham man.
Now, talkSPORT have offered an update on that front, claiming United are trying to ‘hijack’ Newcastle United’s move to sign the Manchester-born player.
Apparently, the Magpies have stepped up contract talks with the defender over the weekend, as they look to make the centre-half their first signing of the summer.
However, the deal is not done yet, and Jason Wilcox, who helped Adarabioyo develop at Manchester City, is keen to lure him to Old Trafford.
Adarabioyo would be a free transfer due to the fact that his contract expires this coming summer, meaning he’d be an attractive option for United, given the fact that money is tight.
Unfortunately, beating out competition from Newcastle United isn’t going to be easy. We have to be honest with ourselves, they’re probably a more attractive destination right now, given the respective league positions.
It may take a massive offer in terms of weekly wage to convince Adarabioyo to make the move back to Manchester. Even then, that may not be enough.
