Man United urged to sell David de Gea this summer

Manchester United Football Club have been told to cash in on David de Gea this summer.

Nobody can deny that David de Gea has probably been Manchester United’s most consistent player over the last decade. Top saves, match-winning performances and an unreal attitude. Our superstar Spaniard has always been someone who this club can rely upon.

Sadly for De Gea, Dean Henderson has emerged at just the wrong time. A few mistakes had started to creep in from the Spaniard, with Hendo looking great while on loan with Sheffield United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now made the decision to make the Englishman his new number one for league matches, leaving De Gea in a situation where he’s only seeing action in cups.

Now, former goalkeeper-turned-pundit, Rob lee, has given his take on the situation. He has urged United to part with the 30-year-old star to get him off the wage bill – ensuring Henderson’s future as number one.

“He’s been under pressure and the spotlight at Man United, I think he’s done well and hasn’t put a foot wrong yet for them.” Lee told Football Fan Cast.

“I would sell de Gea, get him off the wage bill and sell him for £50 million or whatever you can get for him, and make Dean Henderson the number one.”

Honestly, I think it’s time to do this. De Gea’s always going to be remembered fondly by the Old Trafford faithful, however, you can’t have £300k-a-week+ sat on the bench for every game. It’s just not good for business.

Sure, United would then have to go back into the market and find a backup goalkeeper, heck, who knows, Sergio Romero may well do a U-turn on his future and decide to stick around…?

Sadly, we couldn’t deliver De Gea more trophies. He’ll go down as arguably our best ever goalkeeper in terms of sheer ability, but some fans won’t have that debate because he hasn’t won as much as the likes of Peter Schmeichel or Edwin van der Sar.

I just hope that there’s a club out there who willing to spend big to bring De Gea in. He’s still amongst the best in the business and maybe one of Spain’s top clubs will take that chance.
