Man United urged to sign Harry Kane by Merson, would make Man United ‘massive players’

Manchester United Football Club have been urged to sign Harry Kane this summer, as he’d make the Red Devils ‘massive players’ next season.

First and foremost, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves credit. The Baby Faced Assassin has definitely improved this United team, both in terms of personnel and morale. Now, though, it’s about taking that next step.

United need to spend money this summer to make themselves genuine title contenders again, though with COVID-19 disrupting things, that could be a problem.

Well, Sky Sports News’ Paul Merson has had his say on United’s squad situation. He has urged the Red Devils to sign the 24-goal striker, Kane. Apparently, acquiring the Englishman would turn the 20-time Premier League champions into ‘massive players next season’.

“I think Manchester United need a centre-forward. I really do. And if they put in a massive bid for Harry Kane, they become massive players next season in the Premier League.” Merson wrote in his Sky Sports column.

He also went on to say that Anthony Martial is a ‘hot and cold’ player and you can’t win the league on that. While I disagree, I see where he’s coming from. This is seen as a down-year for Kane, he’s still scored 24 goals which is better than Martial’s best season…

Would a deal be possible?

Kane is still only 27, too. He’s still got at least a half-decade left in him, guaranteeing around 25-goals a term. Adding that to this squad would be absolutely huge.

The massive elephant in the room is negotiating with Spurs. Daniel Levy isn’t about to let their prized asset leave on the cheap and you’d imagine he’d cost at least £100million. Does United have those sorts of funds available this summer? I’m not sure…

You also have to factor in fewer minutes for the likes of Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Martial. They’re all developing nicely at the moment. Would Solskjaer really want to disrupt that?
