Man United are keeping a watchful eye on Darwin Nunez.
It goes without saying, this summer is Manchester United’s most important over the last decade. For far too long, wrong decisions have cost this club. The rot has now set in.
The Red Devils have to change the mentality. They have to rediscover their hunger for glory. It’s going to take years, but we have to be patient.
A new manager will be in place soon, while United will likely give him big money to spend. Those signings are already being identified behind the scenes. One name that the club are paying attention to is Darwin Nunez.
The latest update in that brewing saga comes from Correio da Manhã (Tuesday print edition), with the translation via Sport Witness. Apparently, United are ‘very attentive’ to the 33-goal forward’s form this season, ahead of the summer transfer window.
Nunez will not come cheap, though, as the media outlet believes Benfica can break their transfer record sale – which currently stands at £100m (€120m). Obviously, that’s a massive amount.

United may have to act quickly to get this deal done, though, as Atletico Madrid, who have a strong relationship with Benfica, are also keen on acquiring the Uruguay international.
I’d love to see a player of Darwin’s calibre brought in this summer, though I find it seriously hard to believe how we’ll lure him to Old Trafford without Champions League football on the table. It feels like a long-shot at best.
The need to sign a new attacker is blatantly there. Edinson Cavani will leave, while the form of Marcus Rashford continues to be a major concern. Also, who knows what’ll happen to Anthony Martial this summer?
Hopefully, United push hard and somehow persuade Darwin to make the move to Manchester…
