Man United are super keen to sign Brighton midfielder, Moises Caicedo.
Erik ten Hag is slowly but surely moving down his list of transfer targets one by one. Manchester United’s failure to acquire the players he requires is starting to look rather desperate quite frankly…
Alas, as they say, the show must go on. One name who has come to the fore in regards to a potential Old Trafford switch recently is Moises Caicedo. The Brighton & Hove Albion man has looked impressive over the last six months or so.
Again, this is a player United have looked at previously, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen on acquiring the midfielder eighteen months ago, before he moved to Brighton for just £4.5million…
Anyway, it’s Daniele Longo with the latest update on Caicedo’s future. He states that United, along with West Ham, are ‘very interested’ in signing the 20-year-old.
He also adds that United ‘contacts (are in) in progress’ with Brighton over the potential deal. No transfer fee is mentioned, but you’d imagine Caicedo may well cost 10-times the aforementioned £4.5m fee the Seagulls paid to bring the Ecuadorian into the AMEX Stadium.
Again, United’s poor performances in the transfer market is coming back to haunt the Old Trafford club. At this point, it’s getting embarrassing.
Caicedo would be a direct upgrade on the players currently available to Ten Hag in midfield. However, I do wonder whether the Reds have left this one too late. Brighton have already lost a couple of key players this summer, while they’re already difficult to negotiate with. They tend to set their price. Stick to it and not waver.
I can very much see United wasting plenty of time on this proposed deal, before turning their nose up as Brighton will not budge from their initial demands.
