Man United are weighing up a deal to acquire defender, Dan-Axel Zagadou.
The squad overhaul under Erik ten Hag at Manchester United is well underway. The Old Trafford club have cleared out plenty of dead-wood, while adding a few players who are deemed as better suited to the new system.
There’s still plenty of work ahead for the Red Devils, with Ten Hag seeking further signings during this huge transfer window. One centre-back in the form of Lisandro Martinez has been added, though the Dutch boss seemingly isn’t stopping there.
It’s Media Foot Marseille with the claim, while thanks must go to Sport Witness for the translation. The French media outlet describe the transfer race for the player, who is available without a transfer fee since his departure from Borussia Dortmund.
It’s Inter Milan credited with the most interest, though United also get a mention. The report states the Serie A club should ‘watch out for the competition’ from the Old Trafford side, who are ‘very interested’ in acquiring the 23-year-old defender on a free.
PSG are also credited with interest in Zagadou.
The France U21 international had been a bit-part player for Dortmund before leaving the club for free, while you’d expect he’d have a similar role should he make the move to Manchester.
Martinez, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof all feel higher in the pecking order. Signing Zagadou could mean that one (or more) of Eric Bailly, Phil Jones or Axel Tuanzebe could be on the way out.
With the lack of a transfer fee, this feels like a relatively risk-free signing for United and it could end up proving to be a really solid piece of business.
