Man United very interested in signing Leicester City right-back Ricardo Pereira: report

You know that long-running joke about Liverpool using Southampton as its feeder club? Well, Manchester United are set to become the butt of a similar gag but in regards to Leicester City.

After signing Harry Maguire over the summer, with interest in James Maddison well documented, a third Foxes man has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The transfer exclusive comes from Le10Sport, translated by the Daily Star, who state that United are very interested in signing the 26-year-old Leicester defender Ricardo Pereira.

However, the Reds will have to wait until next summer to make their move, with The Foxes having no intention of losing their key man during the mid-season window.

Having arrived from Porto in 2018, Pereira has been a massive hit for the East Midlands outfit. He’s a solid defender with brilliant attacking capabilities, plus he’s still relatively young aged just 26.

The obvious question I have is what on earth happens to both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot if this deal goes through? Obviously, the former Crystal Palace man would be super-tough to displace in the right-back slot, while any deal for Pereira would all-but end Dalot’s time at the club…

Pereira also wouldn’t come cheap. Although a quality player you get the feeling that this money could be spent wiser elsewhere.
