Man United are doing all they can to get Casemiro signed before the Liverpool game.
Manchester United Football Club need at least one new midfielder. Preferably one who flourishes on the defensive side of the ball.
A move for Real Madrid’s Casemiro looked nigh-on impossible initially, though with each passing day, a move looks likelier and likelier.
Now, the latest information from Revelo’s Matte Moretto is hugely significant for the Old Trafford club.
He says that Casemiro’s move to United is ‘imminent’, with the deal costing close to £60m (€70m). The Premier League side are set to give Casemiro a four year deal with the option for a fifth, while also doubling the player’s wages.
Casemiro’s medical will take place within the next 24-36 hours (Friday or Saturday), with United ‘obsessed’ about getting this signing done ahead of the Liverpool game on Monday night.
Sadly for United, there’s absolutely no way Casemiro will be involved on Monday night. The Brazil international doesn’t yet have a visa, while the signing isn’t officially confirmed yet.
A start against Southampton, a week on Saturday, feels like the more likely possibility for the 30-year-old midfielder.
This is no doubt a huge signing for United if the club can somehow get this one over the line. No doubt the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane were whispering in Casemiro’s ear, too!
Suddenly, we’re going to be giving our back four that protection they desperately need. Although Casemiro is not ideal with the ball at his feet, this signing does solve one of our biggest issues at present.
My only concern is the talk of a four-year contract for a player who is rapidly coming to the end of his peak years. He’s also going to be on massive wages.
