Manchester United could well lose Paul Pogba this summer, and the fact that we have no Champions League football on offer certainly doesn’t help our case.
After an inconsistent time at Old Trafford, perhaps some sections of the Red Devils fanbase won’t mind too much if he does depart. Well, a move back to Juventus could be on the cards according to Sky Sports Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio (translated by The Metro).
Interestingly, they say that chiefs from both United and Juventus talked face-to-face about the Old Lady re-signing Pogba, with United wanting around £130million to let their poster-boy leave the Theatre of Dreams.
However, that figure could be lowered if players are included in the deal, with United ‘making it clear’ they would be interested in signing the versatile Joao Cancelo as part of any Pogba move to Turin.
Aged 25, Cancelo looks set to leave Juve this summer, with United ready to challenge Manchester City in an effort to sign the full-back.
Predominantly a right-back, Cancelo could take over that position in the team as soon as he walks through the entrance door at United. Although the Portuguese could also challenge Luke Shaw at left-back if needs be, while also having the ability to play further up the field if the situation requires it.
United need a right-back and Cancelo is a high level one. It makes sense to enquire about the possibility of including him in any Pogba deal, although you’d imagine the Reds would prefer to keep ahold of their star midfielder if they can…
