Manchester United want to complete the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka this week, as the Red Devils’ chief negotiator, Matt Judge, has been locked in talks with Crystal Palace.
That’s according to the Evening Standard, who say that Judge will continue talking with the London club in an effort to finally reach a breakthrough in a move for the 21-year-old defender.
Palace have been holding out for a fee of around £50million, while United have failed with two bids so far. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is apparently putting both Judge and Edward Woodward under pressure to speed up United’s recruitment process, with the Baby Faced Assassin making it clear that he wants the majority of the club’s transfer business done by July 1st.
Given that date is now less than a week away, it’s fair to say it looks unlikely that Solskjaer will be given his wish – but the manager needs to start getting in Woodward’s ear about pushing deals over the line rather than pussyfooting around…
The Evening Standard does say that Wan-Bissaka can now travel to Manchester this week to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms, following England U21s’ exit from the European Championships.
Before that, though, a fee has to be agreed – which obviously hasn’t happened as of yet.
I’m just disappointed. In what is supposed to be United’s most important summer in years, we’re messing around and haggling over prices. Palace’s Wan-Bissaka asking price hasn’t changed once, so why don’t the club just get the deal done as soon as possible? To me, it further highlights that the owners only care about the financial side of things – and that’s just not going to change anytime soon, unfortunately for us fans anyway…
