Manchester United Football Club have already been linked with every name under the sun. The transfer window has been open for less than 24 hours…
I suspect it’s going to be an awfully-long summer for Red Devils fans, with at least a couple of new rumours coming to fruition almost daily. One story that seems to be picking up pace is a potential move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.
Yesterday, we covered a story from The Sun which was claiming United were eying a £40million move for the talented Frenchman. Today, that has been backed up by a report from France…
It comes from Euro United (translated by Sport Witness), who’re claiming that the Reds ‘want’ to make a €45m (£40m) offer for the striker, while also adding that Dembele ‘greatly pelases’ manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Again, this story indicates that the Baby Faced Assassin is trying to inject a youthful exuberance into a United squad that, rather shockingly, has struggled in terms of effort and application over the last twelve months.
Dembele would be an astute addition but it’d likely mean the end of an Old Trafford career for Romelu Lukaku, who endured a hit-and-miss 2018/19 campaign.
The Frenchman’s 17 goals in 40 league games, with many appearances coming off the subs bench, let’s me know that Dembele probably isn’t ready to start in the Premier League on a regular basis. However the talent is clearly there.
