Man United want to sign Harry Kane this summer

The powers that be at Manchester United are fully intent on acquiring Harry Kane this summer.

Manchester United are in need of a major overhaul. At board level, coaching staff and within the dressing room.

Massive jobs like this take time. There are no quick fixes or magic wands that’ll ensure these positive changes take place overnight.

Perhaps the hire that is most important is new manager. The club simply have to get someone with a clear plan and ideology in mind. Then, that person can make signings that fit his style and identity.

Well, United are seemingly intent on still doing their own thing from time-to-time. That’s if the latest report from The Athletic turns out to be accurate.

Apparently, Harry Kane is a top target. With the club still wanting to sign the 28-year-old this summer, regardless of who becomes the next manager.

To further add to that, Tottenham Hotspur chairman, Daniel Levy, will almost certainly have to sell Kane this summer as he enters into the final two years of his contract.

Fees of around the £100million mark are being talked up by The Athletic, which seems fair given Kane’s insane scoring numbers coupled with the fact that he’s in his prime years as a footballer.

I do feel quite worried about the fact that United are deadset on signing Kane regardless of who is in charge, because there are absolutely zero guarantees the new manager will want to work with Kane. That totally depends on tactics and system.

Erling Haaland should be the top guy on the list, though I get the distinct feeling he’ll be heading to the blue half of Manchester. That could give us a free run at Kane with Chelsea still locked in battle with the government over ownership issues, but again, the fit has to be right.

We’ve been linked with Kane numerous times and I imagine our name will be in the frame until he eventually leaves Spurs. There’s no doubt he’d be a top signing in the right situation, but I’d much prefer United to get their new manager in place first.
