Man United have eyes on Leeds United midfielder, Archie Gray.
Last summer, Manchester United had to bring in Sofyan Amrabat on loan to bolster their midfield options after a mini injury crisis.
The man from Fiorentina waited patiently for the call from the Red Devils, which eventually came on transfer deadline day. So far, the Morocco international has been underwhelming…
Spanish publication Fichajes seem to believe that the club are ready to let Amrabat head back to the Serie A this summer, which would make sense given his performances.
In terms of possible replacements, United want to sign an emerging midfielder from a rival; Archie Gray.
The Leeds United made has emerged as a target for INEOS, with the 17-year-old said to be in a ‘prominent position’ among the list of potential replacements. At this stage, it’s unclear whether Gray would want to move to United due to the rivalry between the two clubs.
Gray has the potential to be one of the next big things to come out of the Elland Road club and no doubt it would feel weird to cheer on an ex-Leeds boy, but the fume it’d bring among their support would make it all worth it. At the end of the day, it didn’t take us too long to warm up to Alan Smith.
As for Fichajes, they’re hardly the most reliable news source these days, so I’d probably take this one with a pinch of salt, at least for the time being, until some more reputable sources start to back up the story.
There can be no doubt that Gray has massive potential, but that’s all it is at this stage.
