Man United wanted Sancho but club have turned attentions elsewhere: report

Earlier today, we covered a story from the Daily Record which claimed that Manchester United have shown an interest in Leicester City attacking midfielder, James Maddison…

Shortly after that initial story broke, we’ve been given further information on the Red Devils’ interest in the talented Englishman. It comes from The Independent, who say that United are now in pole position to sign the 22-year-old.

Apparently, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Edward Woodward want to bring in young, British talent to the club. Jadon Sancho was atop the wishlist, although the Borussia Dortmund is set to snub United as he’s reluctant to an Old Trafford move.

In terms of a Maddison transfer fee, the number being mentioned again is around the £60million mark. I’ll reiterate that signing him for that price tag would be an absolute steal.

We’re talking about a young man who is still improving almost week-on-week, and he’d drastically improve our midfield options as soon as he walked through the door.

The report from The Independent does state that no official bid has been made yet, and the club’s are still in the early stages of enquiries and discussions about the potential transfer.

Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are all also keen on Maddison. All of which have Champions League football on offer, which could make things all the tougher for the Reds…
