Man United are considering making a January move to sign Max Aarons.
Erik ten Hag has been mightily impressive during his short tenure as Manchester United manager. The strides that have been made are there for all to see, with the Old Trafford club playing some lovely football right now.
It was always going to take time. More than anything, it’s about building a squad that suits Ten Hag’s high-pressing system down to the ground.
One area that Ten Hag has made no bones about wanting to improve in is right-back. Diogo Dalot is playing excellently right now, though Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been deemed surplus to requirements.
The club need to bring in a right-back who can compete with Dalot for starts. It seems as though Man United have identified Max Aarons as a candidate.
It’s The Sun with the claim. They believe United are ‘weighing up’ a January move to sign the 22-year-old right-back, who currently plies his trade for Norwich City.
Apparently, the Reds are named as ‘long-term admirers’ of Aarons’, who is valued at only £10m by Norwich. That valuation has seen some drop-off, largely due to the fact Norwich are no longer a Premier League outfit.
The Old Trafford side are one of eight clubs who scouted Aarons at a recent England U21 match, meaning United would face serious competition to get this deal done.
Would max Aarons be a good signing?
In our opinion, yes. Aarons is someone who could come in and compete with Dalot for starts from day one. He’s the perfect fit for this system, while the spotlight would not be on him due to the relatively low transfer fee.
With United expected to be fighting it out on multiple fronts, squad rotation is a must. Aarons, even if he cannot usurp Dalot in the big Premier League matches, will get his fair share of minutes in the cup and European competition.
