Manchester United’s last summer transfer window was certainly one to forget. In the end, I tend to believe that cost Jose Mourinho his job.

However, it looks as though the Red Devils are going to try and right those wrongs. According to the Daily Express, United are set to battle Chelsea to sign the world-class 26-year-old playmaker, Christian Eriksen.

Apparently, both United and Chelsea have been boosted by the fact that Real Madrid have ended their pursuit in the Dane, with Eriksen potentially having his head turned due to a winding down contract – that expires in 2020.

When you talk about on ball quality, it doesn’t get much better than Eriksen. His vision, execution, ability and sheer talent is just insane. He knows when to shoot, he knows who to pass to, he always makes the right choice.

Eriksen would improve any side in world football, and if United are in with a realistic shot at signing him, then they should pull out all the stops and do what they can to ensure that he chooses Old Trafford rather than Stamford Bridge.

I guess the only stumbling block could be Spurs themselves. They would be reluctant to let him move to another Premier League side and no doubt their asking price will be through the roof.
