Man United are set for transfer talks with Alexis Mac Allister ‘soon’.

Midfield seems like the position that Manchester United are prioritising going into the summer, with Erik ten Hag seemingly keen on adding some much-needed depth in that area.

Several central players have been linked with a Red Devils switch over the last couple of weeks – including Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister. United fans will get a good look at the Argentine this coming weekend, when they take on Brighton in the FA Cup semi-final.

The World Cup winner has been playing well this season, with the midfielder seemingly eyeing a move away from Brighton during the upcoming window.

Fabrizio Romano’s latest information is certainly intriguing. He says that the player considers a summer transfer away from his current club as ‘100% guaranteed’. To add to that, he’s hoping for an ‘early transfer’ in the window.

Furthermore, United will hold talks with the player’s agents ‘soon’, though Liverpool will do the same.

Check out Fabrizio Romano’s tweet here:

I’d also expect more sides to show an interest in signing Mac Allister before the summer window rolls around – meaning he will not be cheap to acquire.

If it’s a straight race between United and Liverpool, I’d have United as favourites due to their likely participation in the Champions League.

However, plenty will depend on the club’s ownership status. If the Glazer family remain in charge, I do not see them spending big money. Brighton are notoriously tough negotiators in the transfer market. You either pay their price or don’t get the player. It really is that simple.

I suspect this rumour will rumble on in the coming months.
