Man United could look to cash in on Brandon Williams this summer.
The overhaul at Manchester United this summer is likely to be the biggest we’ve seen in recent years.
There’s a mass exodus of players leaving on free transfers, while several others could potentially be sold to make way for Erik ten Hag’s signings.
One player whose future remains somewhat up in the air is Brandon Williams. After a successful loan spell with Norwich City, the Englishman comes back to Old Trafford with an uncertain future.
Luke Shaw remains the first-choice left-back for now, though I genuinely believe Williams is good enough to play his part within this United squad.
Well, the Manchester Evening News’ sources have offered us an update on Williams’ future – and it’s not good news for the versatile defender.
Apparently, United will now ‘listen to offers’ for the 21-year-old, with the club unable to guarantee Williams suitable playing time going forward.
The fact that United aren’t looking to outright state Williams is for sale offers some hope, suggesting the club will only cash in if the price is right. However, you do get the feeling from this article that the Reds would rather move on from the Englishman while he still holds some value.
With a contract until 2024, there’s no need to make an immediate decision on Williams’ future, meaning another loan move next term could be an option.
I guess it all depends on what Ten Hag wants from his full-backs. The Dutchman likes his defenders to play on the front foot, hence why Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been made available for transfer this summer.
In our opinion, Williams should get a chance on pre-season tour before any final decision is made. He’s an excellent player to have in the squad due to his versatility, desire and hunger to play for the badge on his chest.
