Man United will not be activating the £17m buy option in the Sofyan Amrabat loan contract.
Manchester United Football Club have some big transfer decisions to make this summer, including what to do with Sofyan Amrabat.
After a sluggish start to life in Manchester, the man from Morocco impressed as the season drew to a close. Some excellent performances, including a colossal display against Manchester City in the FA Cup final, kept the door open on a possible permanent Old Trafford switch.
Amrabat did all he could with limited chances and I have to say, he looked so commanding in the final few matches of the campaign. However, was that enough to earn him a place in the United squad in the long-term…?
Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update on that front. The Italian journalist claims United have informed Fiorentina they will not trigger the £17m buy option clause to sign the midfielder permanently.
However, the door is not completely shut. United remain interested in Amrabat and are willing to discuss different conditions as Erik ten Hag ‘likes’ the player. United will not have it all their own way, though, as other clubs are showing interest.

This is simply United trying to negotiate down a transfer fee for Amrabat, who has been deemed surplus to requirements by Fiorentina.
The Italian club have to sell him this summer, or risk losing Amrabat for free in twelve months’ time. The fact that there are other interested parties could make this a little trickier for United, who aren’t willing to spend more than £17m to sign the man from Morocco.
For some dressing room consistency, I’d love to see Amrabat brought back, particularly if the likes of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro do leave.
