Man United will turn down any loan offers for Victor Lindelof, as Erik ten Hag needs the Swede.
Manchester United’s squad is looking much more confident under Erik ten Hag. The gaffer, who has a specific way of playing, has coached these players up perfectly.
From a club that didn’t really have many valuable assets a year ago, United are drowning in talent and ability. Some players, though, just aren’t starting games with regularity, leaving their future up in the air.
One man who fits that bill is Victor Lindelof. The Swede was a regular starter under the previous regime, though he’s fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Lisandro Martinez.
Minutes are coming at a premium, though he did start in the FA Cup over the weekend. As you’d expect, the rumours about his future are starting to swirl.
Fabrizio Romano provided the latest information on Lindelof, confirming that United ‘have decided’ not to accept any loan or permanent offers for the first-teamer. He’ll stay at the club at least until the summer as Ten Hag ‘counts on’ the defender.
Check out Fabrizio Romano’s tweet on the situation here:
Right now, I’d have Lindelof as potentially the fifth-choice centre-back. The aforementioned Martinez, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are all ahead.
That said, United have games coming thick and fast right now. They’ll rotate regularly in order to keep their players feeling fresh, so Lindelof will have his fair share of minutes between now and the end of the term.
Although inconsistent, Lindelof has done a decent job for United on the whole. Though I’ve been consistent in my belief that he’s only good enough to be a back-up rather than a regular starter.
