Man United will sign new left-back this summer with Milos Kerkez named as possible option

Man United will acquire a new left-back this summer, with Milos Kerkez a potential target for the Red Devils.

Manchester United Football Club need to acquire a vast amount of players during the upcoming transfer window. They’re set to lose plenty and those minutes need to be replaced with genuine quality.

Among the areas of need is the left-back position. Tyrell Malacia didn’t play once all season. Luke Shaw missed half of the campaign through injury. The Reds need consistency in that area of the field.

Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to share an update on that front, claiming United ‘will bring in’ a new left-back this summer.

Romano gives a name, 20-year-old Milos Kerkez, as a potential target. The Hungary international is ‘appreciated’ by the Old Trafford club, though no talks have taken place yet.

It will not be easy to secure Kerkez’s signature, though, with Bournemouth set to ask for an ‘important fee’ to let their prized asset leave.

Money is expected to be somewhat tight for the Old Trafford club this summer, with reports claiming the Reds will have to sell before they can buy. Kerkez cost Bournemouth around £15million, with The Cherries no doubt looking to earn a large profit on top of that fee considering they only signed him twelve months ago.

This does beg the question about where Shaw’s future lies. The Englishman has never been able to stay consistently fit following that horrific leg injury he suffered all those years ago. Hence, United need a reliable back-up. Kerkez will fill that role brilliantly, while also pushing Shaw extremely hard for the first-choice spot in the side.
