Man United are ready to make a sizable weekly wage offer to Raheem Sterling, if he is ready to join the Reds this summer.

Manchester United have made four excellent signings so far this summer, with Manuel Ugarte likely to make it five.

Erik ten Hag has been backed to the fullest, though perhaps the Old Trafford club aren’t quite finished.

A move for Raheem Sterling has been talked up recently. Initial talks about his signing have been held, with the Englishman deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea.

Now, Give Me Sport have provided some exclusive information on the Sterling-to-United saga.

They state that United are ‘willing’ to hand the attacker a £150k-a-week contract if he were to join United. That’s less than half the £300k-a-week+ he currently fetches home at Chelsea.

On top of that, Sterling would have to settle for squad player status, rather than starting week-in-week-out on a regular basis.

According to GMS, the player is open to taking a pay-cut, while starting life in Manchester as a back-up option to Marcus Rashford. There is also scope for Sterling to play as a false nine in future, or possibly even off the right-hand side.

There’s no doubt that Sterling will want to leave Chelsea this summer as he’s been completely exiled from the first-team fold. Aged 29, he will not want to rot in the reserves for the next few months until January rolls around. I’d imagine he’s now pushing for a move away.

However, I’m not quite sure Sterling is good enough to play for United at this stage of his career. He will not be starting games with regularity and it’s an expensive weekly wage to hand a player who is likely to not be involved in every single match-day squad.
