Paul Pogba has made his intentions clear. The midfielder wants to leave Manchester United this summer, although the ball remains firmly in the Red Devils’ court.
The mainstream media has been relatively quiet on this brewing transfer saga thus far, although the BBC’s Simon Stone has finally spoken out. He claims that United are yet to receive a bid for their want-away star, while no negotiations are taking place at this stage.
Stone adds that United remain calm about the situation, with the club believing that Pogba will still be with them in the 2019/20 season. For Pogba, this spells only bad news…
As Stone states, United would probably demand in excess of £150million to let their talisman leave during this window. With three years left on Pogba’s deal, the decision is in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s hands.
That’s why I was left so baffled when Pogba took it public at a relatively early stage. What happens if he doesn’t get his wish even though he’s pushing hard for a move.
Only a handful of clubs can afford his hefty price-tag in this day and age, even less can pay it while passing FFP regulations. At this point, I still firmly believe he’ll be a United player for the next twelve months at least. But as we know, things in football can change pretty quickly…
Ole’s presser will certainly be interesting tomorrow…
