Man United are yet to register any concrete interest in Rafael Leao, despite recent reports.

Manchester United Football Club suddenly have a Cristiano Ronaldo-shaped hole within their squad. That gap needs to be filled as the dressing room is suddenly looking a little light in that area of the field.

Between the summer and now, several names have been linked with a potential Old Trafford switch. Rafael Leao among them.

The AC Milan man has slowly seen his individual stock rise over the last few years, going from strength to strength over in Serie A. He also was drip-fed some minutes over in Qatar at the World Cup for his native Portugal.

Well, any reported Reds interest in Leao has been shut down by the Manchester Evening News. Their journalist, Samuel Luckhurst, claims that United are ‘yet to register any concrete’ interest in the 23-year-old, despite being linked with the Jorge Mendes client.

Leao has been at Milan since 2019, and his contract expires in 2024, with the player entering into the final eighteen months of his current terms.

The winger has started every game for Milan over on the left-wing, while also being the Serie A’s highest-ranked player on the most recent Ballon d’Or list. He finished fourteenth.

There’s no doubt that Leao represents an excellent footballer. Though United are fairly well-stocked over on the left-hand side of the attack. Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and even Anthony Martial can play out there at a high level.

I’d argue that United are far weaker over on the right-hand side, which is absolutely where the Reds’ energy should be focused right now. Bringing in a new striker should also be much higher on the list of priorities.
