Man United’s Brandon Williams being targeted in £15m transfer

Man United could receive a pretty sizable offer for Brandon Williams.

Erik ten Hag’s squad is slowly starting to take shape. A few signings have been made so far, with the Dutchman also moving on several players already.

It seems the squad overhaul isn’t finished just quite yet, although the first-team at Manchester United is already looking pretty thin if you ask me.

The squad could be about to decrease by one more in the coming days, with Brighton & Hove Albion targeting a move to sign Brandon Williams. That’s according to The Mirror.

In their headline, they say the Southern club are ‘set to raid’ United for their first-team defender Williams, in a deal worth £15million.

Brighton boss, Graham Potter, views the Reds defender as the ‘ideal replacement’ for the outbound Marc Cucurella, who is looking set to join Manchester City in a big-money deal.

Williams flourished under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the left-back position, though was sent out on loan to Norwich City last term. The Englishman impressed for The Canaries, but sadly couldn’t help them fight off relegation.

The full-back returns to Manchester somewhat far down the pecking order due to the addition of Tyrell Malacia.

Although it’d be sad to see a homegrown lad go, the big money price tag probably make this transfer too-good-to-turn down.

For Williams, he’d be given the chance to play regularly in a system that would suit his style of play nicely, whereas Brighton would be getting one hell of a footballer and a top professional.

United will look at it like this. They’ve replaced Williams with Malacia, while also netting a £3million profit in the process as the Dutchman only cost the Reds £12m. Not bad at all.

Do you think this would be good value for Man United? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

  1. Would rather get rid of Telles. But if there is a buy back option, it would mean that Williams gets a good chance of first team football, in a settled environment, so a win, win for everyone
