Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is set to leave the club on a season-long loan deal. That’s according to ESPN’s sources, who adds that the Mancunian will head to Championship side Leeds United for the 2017/18 campaign.
The left-sided defender spent last year on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and he didn’t go on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States of America – which was a bit of a surprise to myself personally.
Borthwick-Jackson was one of the talented young men who got plenty of opportunities under Louis van Gaal, and by the end of the Dutchman’s tenure, he was a regular feature in the United’s starting line-up.
He put in some brilliant performances for the Red Devils, and it’s a shame to see such a dramatic fall from grace in a short period of time. The fact that he’s set to be loaned out again to the Championship indicates that his growth as a player remained stagnant – and Jose Mourinho doesn’t fully trust him yet.
I just hope that he actually get on the pitch this time, because whilst with Wolves, he didn’t really play that much and obviously that didn’t help him in the slightest.
