Man United are set to be without Harry Maguire for the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday…
Manchester United have just one game left; the FA Cup final.
Erik ten Hag will be fighting Manchester City for the cup, for the second campaign in a row. However, he’ll have to do it without one of his key performers, who is set to miss the game with a problem.
The Dutch gaffer met the media on Friday to deliver the all-important team news, confirming the FA Cup final injury blow to Harry Maguire.
The Englishman was in a race against time to be fit for the Wembley showpiece, though he hasn’t recovered in time and he’s now forced to watch this one from the sidelines.
Check out what the gaffer had to say on the news here:
“Harry Maguire is unavailable but the rest, all the players you mentioned [Lindelof, Mount and Martial], they are – I think – available,” Ten Hag told club media. “We have, tomorrow, final training and then we have final decisions. But, as I oversee it now, it looks good.“
While it’s great to read that the likes of Victor Lindelof, Mason Mount and Anthony Martial are all available, I just feel sorry for Maguire.
He has been United’s most consistent defender all season long, while the defence has looked far more solid with him in the side. That’s some turnaround, given he faced an uncertain future twelve months ago.
With that in mind, Maguire could have already played his last game for United. Obviously, that’d be a cruel way for it to end, though he could finish with an FA Cup crown under his belt which would be rather nice…
Get well soon, Harry!
