Sir Alex Ferguson has been speaking very highly of Manchester United’s midfield, while singling out Scott McTominay for huge praise.
Manchester United Football Club are improving, that much is obvious. Sadly, our title charge is over, though there’s still hope of winning a trophy in the Europa League.
For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it’s now about playing your best team game-in-game out and getting the all-important results. Every match from here is a massive game, with the Baby Faced Assassin desperate for success, particularly in those final three (hopefully) European fixtures.
Ahead of the run-in, Sir Alex Ferguson has had his say on all-things United, heaping praise on their midfield in particular. The Scot would also name Scott McTominay as their underrated big-game player.
Check out what the boss had to say here:
“I look at the team and I look at the midfield players they’ve got and I think they’re as good as anyone. They’ve got some top midfielders.” Sir Alex is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.
“Players that are playing in England – Tierney has been absolutely fantastic at Arsenal, Robertson the last two years at Liverpool has been unbelievable.”
“Scott McTominay is now emerging as one of Man United’s big players. When you watch Man United pick their team for a big game, McTominay’s name is in it. He’s a good character, a great trainer.”
If you’re McTominay reading this, all it does is boost your confidence endlessly. The midfielder has improved loads this season and no doubt this will be another mental lift.
Fergie is right though. It’s never McTominay who is dropped for the big games, it always tends to be Fred who misses out – which says an awful lot about how much trust Solskjaer has in the Scotland international.
McTominay’s leadership qualities are there for all to see. He’s a born and bred captain, a real motivator, someone who the other players can look up to in a time of need. We’re very lucky to have him.
Hopefully, Scotty Mac can stay fit for the season’s remainder and help solidify our second-place in the table while going on to win the Europa League.
