Manchester United had a summer transfer window to forget. The biggest signing was Fred, and to date, the Brazil international has found it hard to break into Jose Mourinho’s team.
In football, there is always a second chance. With the January window just on the horizon, Edward Woodward has an opportunity at a reprieve. Now, bookmakers Coral, per the Daily Star, reckon United’s most likely signing in the winter period is AS Roma midfielder, Lorenzo Pellegrini, at extremely short odds of 1/2.
The 22-year-old has been turning heads in the Serie A for Roma, due to his pace, vision, work ethic and passing range. He seems the ideal midfielder for a club like United, but Pellegrini is young, it would take him time to adapt.
Honestly, right now, I’d take anyone. The club as a whole just needs a massive lift, and signing an exciting player would give that dressing room a much-needed boost.
The atmosphere around the place is just dull and lifeless at the moment. Bringing in that fresh blood on the field (and possibly in the dugout), is the only way to get out of this slump. Pellegrini, for somewhere around the £25million mark (release clause), would be an absolute bargain. The only problem would be that clubs will be queueing up to sign him.
