Man United’s move for Jadon Sancho ‘getting closer’: report

Journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft has a development for us in regards to Manchester United’s move to sign Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United need a big summer transfer window. These Red Devils did finish second in 2020/21, though you’d expect a resurgent Chelsea and a healthier Liverpool this time around. Manchester City will obviously be up there, too.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has eyes firmly fixated on Jadon Sancho ever since he sat in the Old Trafford dugout for the first time. That hasn’t changed.

Here we are again in a transfer window being endlessly linked with a move to sign the Englishman. Now, journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft has a small update for us on that front.

Apparently, United’s transfer move to sign the star 21-year-old is nudging forward, or as Fjortoft puts it, ‘getting closer’.

Now, what does this mean exactly? Well, we’re not sure. Fjortoft could either be talking about United’s discussions with Borussia Dortmund. Or he could be discussing United’s talks with Sancho in regards to personal terms.

I would hope it’s the former, as you’d expect personal terms with Sancho shouldn’t be an issue. In fact, it’s about trying to come to some sort of agreement with BVB, which was the problem this time last summer.

Sadly, I wouldn’t expect any concrete movement on this front to happen anytime soon. England begins their European Championship campaign in just a few days time and that should be Sancho’s sole focus for the next month or so.

Hopefully, talks are still ongoing behind the scenes, because if United dilly-dally and Sancho has a great tournament, they’ll suddenly be many more clubs interested in his signature…
