Man United’s possible last sixteen Champions League opponents isn’t pretty…

Before last night’s encounter at the Mestalla, Manchester United were already guaranteed a place in the Champions League last sixteen.

With a win coupled with a Juventus loss, the Red Devils had the chance to top their group. However, United faltered, as did Juve, leaving Jose Mourinho’s men as runners-up.

As is always the case when you don’t top your group, the knockout rounds are immediately made all-the-tougher. First of all, you play your home game first, also, it means you’ll end up taking on a group winner.

Now, you sometimes get the odd surprise package topping their group, and without question, the best possible draw for us is FC Porto. Putting the Portuguese giants aside, every other team will cause us huge problems.

You have Spanish giants FC Barcelona, fronted by Lionel Messi, who are always a huge danger whenever you play them. The same can be said about Real Madrid, who, although they’ve not been in the best form domestically this season, they’ve still managed to win their Champions League group.

Next up, we have Germany’s finest, Bayern Munich. They, like Madrid, are struggling in their league, but you never want to come up against them in continental competition. Borussia Dortmund look excellent this season, too, they won’t be easy to beat.

Finally comes Paris Saint-Germain. Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani running at our defence, quite frankly, terrifies me.

Honestly, the only tie I see us winning is FC Porto, and even that’d be close. Let’s hope lady luck is on our side when the draw is made.
