The start of Manchester United’s pre-season tour is rapidly approaching. Thankfully, the usual painful summer, waiting in anticipation, has been made far easier by the World Cup; a tournament which Paul Pogba eventually went onto win.
Anyway, back to domestic football, and as expected, Jose Mourinho has named an extremely youthful squad for the Red Devils’ pre-season tour. Credit to the Manchester Evening News for the excellent scoop.
New signing Lee Grant is aboard the plane, as is fellow summer acquisition Diogo Dalot. It’ll obviously be great to see these two new lads involved, and I bet they’re chomping at the bet, ready to go.
There’s the standout youngsters from the club aboard the flight, with Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes and Axel Tuanzebe leading the way, but there is a surprise or two. What a chance for Joshua Bohui, RoShaun Williams and James Garner have been presented with.
Obviously, it’s somewhat of an odd situation due to the aforementioned World Cup, but it’s nice to see youth getting a chance where the more senior stars will be resting and recuperating before the serious stuff starts in a month’s time.
In terms of familiar faces, Eric Bailly, Ander Herrera and Anthony Martial lead the way. I’m surprised there’s no Alexis Sanchez, though, he’s had the full summer off and should be off to America with the rest of the lads.
