Manchester United have their man, with the usually reliable David Orstein, who works for the BBC, confirming that the move for Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been completed – although we’re yet to get an official announcement.
In terms of fee, the Reds will pay £45million up front with a potential £5million to be earned in add-ons and bonuses. The right-back will sign a five-year deal with the option for a sixth.
Negotiations were delayed as at the last-ditch, Palace have managed to secure themselves an extra clause in Wan-Bissaka’s contract. Apparently, if the 21-year-old is sold for more than £50million, The Eagles will receive 10% of the transfer fee.
This is a shrewd move from Palace. United wouldn’t have wanted the deal to fall through over the clause so they were left with no option but to accept it.
There’s a likelihood that United will never have to cough up 10% of the transfer fee to Palace, providing all goes well and Wan-Bissaka stays at Old Trafford for the majority of his career.
With that said, I think we’re all just waiting patiently for the official announcement. There have been pictures leaked all over the show with Wan-Bissaka donning United colours and celebrating with his family, so I’d be surprised if we don’t hear anything official today…
