Manchester United’s proud history has always stemmed from giving youngsters a chance, and today the latest name thrown into the hat is that of Callum Gribbin, a 16-year old England youth international who plays in midfield.
Both the Daily Mail and Manchester Evening News are reporting that Gribbin was given his chance to train with the first-team yesterday, and both papers go on to say that he could well join the senior squad on their pre-season tour of America.
At the end of the day its hard to judge a 16-year old, but the fact that he is even being thought about to go on the tour tells you just how special this lad can be with the right nurturing and guidance.
If United don’t complete any business in the midfield area before the tour squad has to be named, and there is space available then why not take Gribbin and give him his chance early. There is no risk involved, and its a great opportunity for the youngster.
