Manchester United are preparing for a big summer ahead of their second season under Louis van Gaal, with the Dutchman clearly intent on getting his transfer business done early allowing the new faces to bed in on the pre-season tour.
One key area is the centre-back spot, and according to the Spanish paper Marca, Manchester United have agreed personal terms with the Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi.
The deal is thought to be worth €5million-a-year to Otamendi, but the two clubs are yet to agree a fee for the signature of the 27-year old.
The Argentinian centre-back has been in superb form for the Liga BBVA side, and has been one of the best, most consistent defenders in the league all season long.
Valencia are bound to charge through the roof for Otamendi however, with the eventual fee set to be somewhere in the region of £40million.
