Louis van Gaal’s first season in charge was a successful one and he did exactly what he set out to achieve, and now the Iron Tulip must build on that once again and put in a title challenge. Before that though he has to mould the current squad in his image.
According to the German media outlet Kicker, United have made a ‘concrete offer’ for the duo of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Dante – two positions in which United need strengthening in, and drastically.
We all know about Schweinsteiger’s capabilities, and despite his age he could still add an awful lot to the current Manchester United squad, and it’d mean that we wouldn’t have to solely rely on Michael Carrick to do that holding midfielder job.
Dante is an interesting one. He often goes under the radar when talking about centre-backs that could play for Manchester United but he certainly fits the bill. He’s tall, strong and great in the air, and at 31 he wouldn’t be a long-term fix, but he would bring that experience we need at this moment in time.
