Man Utd boosted as Dortmund confirm they are prepared to sell duo

Borussia Dortmund’s are a club that are currently in a slight bit of turmoil after performing poorly in the league this season, and Jurgen Klopp confirming his departure come the end of the season. That has led to reports that a mass exodus is about to take place at the Westfalonstadion.

Michael Zorc, the club Sporting Director has even admitted that Dortmund are ready to listen to offers for both Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan, with a decision expected soon regarding the latter.

Michael Zorc said:

“Gundogan’s situation isn’t straightforward, because his contract expires in 2016,” he said. “There will be a decision soon.”

“As far as I know, Hummels’ contract still runs until 2017. We did not receive any offer that we should think about.”

“There will surely be some changes to the team this summer. Maybe more changes than in recent years. But we won’t radically change our team.”

It seems as though the German club are already preparing for life without Gundogan, but Hummels’ future is much more up in the air at this point in time.

Both players would make Manchester United a considerably better football team, with Manchester United’s defensive and midfield weaknesses exposed at the hands of Everton this weekend.

Hummels would bring that solidity, whereas Gundogan’s ability on the ball would make United’s midfield much more of an attacking threat, whilst his physicality will make it more solid, too.

If I had to choose one I’d love to see Mats Hummels come in. We’ve been crying out for an experienced defender since we lost Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, and Hummels fits that bill perfectly.
