Manchester United’s defensive woes have been highlighted in recent weeks, and Louis van Gaal will surely have to bolster the clubs options in that particular area of the field if they want to challenge for the title this time next year.
One man who could certainly sure up that defence is Mats Hummels, and according to reports in Germany he is edging one step closer to a move away from Borussia Dortmund.
Sportbild say that a transfer for the 26-year old is certainly looking likely, and that Dortmund are already looking for a replacement if the inevitable does happen.
There aren’t many better centre-backs in world football, and he would be the perfect defender to help nurture our younger players through games.
There have been too many games this season in which Manchester United have lacked a real leader, and our younger centre-backs’ inexperience has shown.
Hummels could change all that, and he certainly fits Louis van Gaal’s philosophy of being able to play out from the back. He’d also chip in with the odd goal or two, too.
