Louis van Gaal clearly isn’t hanging around this summer, with the Iron Tulip already wrapping up a deal for his Dutch compatriot Memphis Depay. According to The Metro, United are now closing in on another two signings – and we’re barely in May.
Manchester United are ready to fork out a combined £48.5million to sign Ilkay Gundogan and Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund.
Gundogan has been strongly linked to United in recent weeks, with Sky Sports News going as far as saying that a fee was close to being agreed between the two clubs.
He is a midfielder who would certainly do and excellent job for United, and he’d provide excellent support to the maestro that is Michael Carrick.
Hummels on the other hand is a defender we’ve been crying out for since Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand left. The 26-year old has been at the heart of everything good for Dortmund over the last few years, and it’d be great if he could come in and help our younger defenders improve their games.
