Manchester United announced the signing of Sergio Romero in the early hours of Monday morning, and it looks as though the club are closing in on another summer signing as a deal for FC Barcelona’s Pedro Rodriguez looms, according to the Daily Mail’s Ian Ladyman.
Pedro, 27, has a reported £22million release clause in his contract and he wants that to be activated by Manchester United this summer as he seeks regular football once again.
Pedro clearly isn’t as talented as Angel di Maria, but he certainly offers more. The 27-year old fits into Louis van Gaal’s system much better, and he can play in numerous positions and he doesn’t mind tracking back at all.
He’d be a fantastic acquisition for United and the Spaniard will only cost half of what we’re expected to sell Angel di Maria for, if Louis van Gaal can pull this off it’d be a fantastic bit of business despite losing the quality of Di Maria.
Would Pedro be a good Di Maria replacement? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

what do you mean, “Pedro clearly isn’t as talented as Di Maria”? I hope he doesn’t give the ball away as often. I hope he doesn’t fall over as often. I hope he doesn’t go on meaningless runs to nowhere as often. I hope he gets proper security for his house in Manchester. I hope he doesn’t lie to the fans. Di Maria was an overrated, overpaid, untrustworthy, lying rat. Pedro doesn’t appear to be any of this, so that makes him much more talented than Big Ears.

no man utd not gonna sign pedro . liverpool fight and try to sign him before man utd
I think you are very wrong to say Pedro is not as talented as Di Maria…average pass completion rate of 75% for a play maker playing in the EPL for arguably the biggest team in the world is a very poor return. In Pedro we are getting a player who passes the ball better, who uses both feet better than Di Maria can, an equally fast player, a more versatile player and most importantly a goal scorer. And Pedro is clearly looking for more game time, he has the hunger to play football. Di Maria wants to follow his wife to Paris…glamour. what an idiot, utter disrespect for the club not showing up for pre-season. Am glad he is leaving.
