Man Utd consider bid for talented Dutch goalkeeper

Manchester United are clearly making contingency plans in the event that David de Gea does leave the club for Real Madrid this summer, with a whole host of goalkeepers being linked with the Old Trafford side over the past couple of weeks.

According to The Mirror, Louis van Gaal is considering signing his Dutch compatriot Jasper Cillessen if David de Gea parts ways, with the Ajax man thought to cost somewhere in the region of £25million.

Cillessen, 26, was voted as the best keeper in the Eredivisie last year, as well as winning Ajax’s Player of the Year Award, but a fee of £25million seems a bit too steep for my liking.

Manchester United would be lucky to get somewhere around the £25million mark for David de Gea, and if we’re spending that on a keeper who is half as good as the Spaniard then thats quite worrying.

The only positive is that Louis van Gaal knows Cillessen extremely well, and the keeper started every game under the Iron Tulip at the 2014 World Cup last summer.

Would Cillessen be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
