Manchester United’s Robin van Persie has had a hit and miss season this year, with the Dutchman scoring plenty of goals but not really putting in those all-round performances we seen in that historic 20th title winning season.
According to reports in Italy, Manchester United have been contacted by the Serie A side AS Roma about the possibility of selling the 31-year old.
With just one year left on his current deal, selling him now would make a lot of sense. He’s on £200,000-a-week wages which is hefty for someone of his age, and it would be a gamble risking losing him on a free transfer next summer.
However I can genuinely see this one going either way. Louis van Gaal loves Robin van Persie, and he’ll probably be willing to give him more chances than most because of their tight knit relationship.
I wouldn’t be bothered either way. He came in and won us a title which is exactly what we wanted from him, and now he’ll retire with at least one Premier League medal under his belt.
