Manchester United were dealt a transfer boost yesterday, when Hummels reportedly said that if he’d move abroad, the only club he’d come to would be United. However last night, the German defender took to Twitter to deny those rumours almost immediately after the news broke.
Hummels tweeted: “To clarify it: this supposed “promise” is simply fictitious and that’s the friendly formation.”
Its good of a professional to come out and set everyone straight on the rumours as soon as he did.
There is no doubt that he’d significantly improve our starting line-up, but the 26-year old would certainly cost a fair wedge.
Hopefully Van Gaal does indeed send a bid to Dortmund for Hummels, because despite what he said, after recent results his head could well be turned.
